Making a difference in the world can seem like something that’s totally out of reach especially if you don’t have access to a limitless bank account, resources and more days in the week than what we currently have. But it doesn’t have to be like that. An ordinary person can change the world. That means you, me, any of us.

The key lies in self belief and self determination.

Sure, that sounds like a nice thing to say but what does it actually mean?
If we unpack that a little it starts to become obvious that what you choose to think about is crucial. After all, our thoughts drive how we feel. How we feel is what drives our actions. Our actions are what define us in the world and the paths that we choose to take.

Set yourself apart.

Don’t compare yourself to those around you, the typical saying is ‘don’t compare apples to oranges’ but the way we like to think of this is (like most things we do) a little differently; you can’t be a pioneer if you’re blending in with the rest of the pack. If you really want to make a difference in the world, you need the courage to stop comparing your averages to the next person’s.

This doesn’t mean you can’t be a team player or a team leader, but it does mean you should challenge yourself in your approach. It does mean it’s healthy to resist the temptation to get trapped in one way of thinking. Changing your mindset may open up new opportunities for growth and empower you to make a real change. It’s important to consider if there are new options or strategies you can use to really make a difference. Does everyone in the team really need to be in agreement 100% of the time? Are there new, fresh perspectives that you haven’t considered?

Don’t be afraid to pursue your passion!

Now we’re not telling you to quit your job and give up your iPad, but it’s crucial to work towards something that you truly believe in. Finding a job that reflects your passion, whether that’s a new venture or a business with a mission that reflects your values, you can’t become exceptional in an area that doesn’t inspire you.

Don’t just take it from us, the late great Steve Jobs once said:

“Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking”.

At Fresh we aim to make a positive difference, not only within our own business, but within our sector, to those we meet and our community.

We would love to know if you are trying to make a difference and how! Connect with us, via email, a phonecall or our social media. We should all be celebrating our achievements and how we have positively impacted the world and those around us.

Have a great week!
