Yes, you did read that sentence correctly.
Within our book club, everyone has been reading Who moved my cheese? By Spencer Johnson. This great and motivational book gives a new view on how to deal with unexpected change and the different emotions, processes, and thoughts that come along with this.
“Cheese” is a metaphor for what you want to have in life — whether it is a good job, a loving relationship, money, a possession, health, or spiritual peace of mind. And the “Maze” is where you look for what you want — the organisation you work in, or the family or community you live in. In the story, the characters are faced with unexpected change. Eventually, one of them deals with it successfully and writes what he has learned from his experience on the Maze walls.
This book is often a suggested reading book for business owners, entrepreneurs and has even helped individuals with OCD to combat their day today. It is one amazing book!
So, you may be thinking why this is relevant to Fresh Perspective…
As explained above this book looks at the ways in which we should deal with unexpected change, as this is something that often occurs in every part of our life. Within business, unexpected change can cause uncertainty and disruption, which is far from the calm collected environment that we strive for. When this occurs we may feel stranded and helpless, but this book aims to give you the tools and correct way of approaching such an event.
Another interesting thought that came from the book, is the idea of what you call your “Cheese”. Cheese is the one thing that you strive for, the one thing that will push you out of your comfort zone. In business many peoples cheese is the idea of expansion, in an individual’s personal life this may be to purchase a house for example. Then you have to work through the maze to achieve your cheese. Sounds simple enough doesn’t it?
Within the business world, Fresh Perspective can help you to achieve your Cheese by ensuring you have the correct team of superheroes to move forward within your business, or the unexpected change within your environment may be the loss of a valued team member. Fresh Perspective has the expertise and a different approach to the standard model of recruitment that can allow you to get back on track to reach your Cheese!
On the other hand within your personal life, you may have a huge goal that you are looking to accomplish within x amount of years, or you may have small changes you wish to implement to give yourself different types of goals, such as feeling more balanced or positive. At Fresh Perspective we are constantly improving our positivity and outlook, and we try to inspire others to do the same also!
As you can tell we highly recommend this book!
